  • Event: Death
  • Note:
The steamer was a fine large vessel, and the commander, Cap tain Bolton, an extremely dignified and cultivated Englishm an, whose regularity, punctuality, and vigilance we had goo d reason to admire. Some three months before, the good capt ain had lost his wife and a little daughter on the voyage f rom England to Calcutta; both were buried beneath the waves . A dear little son had outlived the poor mother, who had b een brought to the much afflicted father by his foster-moth er, and was now on board with him. The sweet child was onl y five years old, and his innocent jokes and games served t o while away many an hour, and I became very fond of him.
