    He followed his brother George Mildmay DARE in 1867 to Japa n and he was employed as Secretary of the General Chamber o f Commerce of Yokohama. In 1874 he was employed with McDona ld & Dare, Bill, Bullion and Ship Brokers, Yokohama # 5.
    In 1877 he founded his own brokerage company under his ow n name, Yokohama # 76. His brother G. M. Dare became his pa rtner and he continued the business under his name after th e soon death of John Julius. (Dare & Co.)
    John Julius Dare died of cholera on September 5, 1879 follo wed by his mother Sarah Shrives Dare; she also died of chol era on September 10, 1879.
    Both are buried in the YFC.
