    Pg. 246: "Deed 3/13/ 1803(1808?)-12/12/1808, from Thomas CARTER (X) and w. Elizabeth (X) of Elbert Co., GA, to the heirs of John PAYNE dec’d. of Fra. Co. For $100 paid by sd. John PAYNE dec’d., conveys 200 a. in Fra. Co., on sw side of Little Shoal Crk., being part of 435 a. surveyed for sd. CARTER 12/6/1785 and granted 2/19/1787. Wit: Peter WALTERS, JP, and Moses PAYNE."
    Pg. 420: "Deed, Franklin Co., 5/12/1821-3/8/1822, from John C. PAYNE, Benedict PAYNE, Thomas PAYNE and Nancy PAYNE (X) to Robert WALTERS, all of Franklin Co. For $200, conveys 139 a. in Franklin Co., being part of a tract granted to Thomas CARTER. Wit.: Joseph WALTERS, JP, and Reuben PAYNE, JP."

    Deed Bk NN--pg 133-pg 31-32 dated 21 Jan 1800 from John Payne and wife Nancy of Franklin Co to William Cawthon of same in cons of $50 conveys 35 ac in Franklin Co on Tugalo River adj where said Cawthon lives on a corner made by said John Payne and Charles Payne. Wit: John Walters, J.P. and F'K Stevilie.
    Deed Bk TT pg 286-pg 26 Dated 2 Nov 1811 rec 25 Nov--from Charles Payne (X) of Franklin Co to David Sloans of Pendleton Dist SC in cons of $900 conveys 300 ac in Franklin Co on Tugalo River being part of 500 ac granted to John Payne, adj. William Cothon's line as mentioned in the title from Pondexter Payne and Nancy Payne to Charles Payne. Also 93 1/2 ac adj same granted to William Robertson which said tracts included a part of the improvement of said Charles. Wit: James Smith, W.F. Bagwell, J.P. Mary Payne wife of Charles relinquished her dower right.

    Personal estate of JOHN PAYNE, deceased, sold at public sale 10-15-1804, mostly to NANCY PAYNE ($218.00) Notes due Payne 02-12-1806 were turned in by PAYNEDEXTER PAYNE. A judgement against the estate was obtained by HUGH PATRICK for the sum of $29.50; other debts were due to MARK HARDUN, WILLIAM CARTER, JOHN NEAL, cost of "schooling the children -$10.00". JOHN WATTERS, ROBERT LACY, JOHN CARTER. 1804 charges show that 17 barrels of corn @$2 were "advanced the family of John Payne deceased."
