David, I just found your info on Ancestry.com, I hope I can still contact you thru this email. Mary Ann Bigby was my direct ggggrandmother and she married David M. Taylor. I even have a letter she wrote to him asking him to come home. They had been separated for many years. She was born Aug 9, 1800 parents were James Bigby and Catherine Foreman, married David Miller Taylor Sept 11, 1817. I have all the information on this lineage and the line thru Elizabeth Taylor (daughter of Mary Ann Bigby and David M Taylor) who married Maj. Stephen Decator Whitaker and lived in Valley Town N.C., if you would like to have it. Let me know.
See her pictures on: "james bigby & descendents pics.doc"
David was in Washington for 8 years pursuing his claim against the gov't over land he lost due to the New Echota Treaty. In the mid-1800's David was reportedly paid $28,012.92 to settle his claims and he returned to NC to find his children grown. (article 1017 Blount Co Heritage).
