    Former Trojan Receives Decorations for Service in Pacific Area

    Lt. William J Ahern, jr., son of Mr & Mrs William J Ahearn, Sr/Jr?, and nephew of the Misses Rose and Margaret McEntee of 124 Adams St, has been decorated with the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, according to work received by his wife, Mrs Margaret Bemiss Ahearn, of Orange NJ from Gen George C Kenney, commander of the Far East Air Forces.

    A letter from General Kenney said that Lieutenant Ahearn was cited for meritorious achievement in sustained operational flights consisting of bombing missions against enemy airdromes and installations as well as attacks on naval and cargo vessels, in the Pacific.

    Lieutenant Ahearn was graduated from the Catholic Central High School and the University of Chattanooga, Chattanooga TN. He was stationed at Carlsdad, New Mexico, before going overseas in January. He is now en route to the US and is expected to arrive here the latter part of this month. His grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Ahearn, formerly of Green Island, resides at 13/43? Fleetwood Ave, Albany.
