Gabriel A. Killian moved to Marquand, MO, in 1886 for his wife's health. A few yaars later, he moved to Cornwall, MO, where he had a blacksmith shop until 1912. While there he helped organize and build the Sonwdenville Presbyterian Church. He was verty active in church work, often attending services at Snowdenville on Sunday morning, then riding horseback to Shady Grove (someplace on hwy 51) to hold Sunday School there in the afternoon.

Besides the blacksmith work, he took care of the machninery for the Mehl Crusher. He often made caskets to bury the dead of the community. The Killians left a record of hospitality from having most of the Sunday School congregation accompany them home for Sunday dinner. One of the old neighbors related that Mr. Killian would ask the youngsters to sit down in a circle on the grass, then tell them stories from the Bible. Whenever there were customers at the shop come noon, he would take them along home with him for dinner. Mrs. Killian also was a hard-working, friendly woman, visiting the sick and helping out in any way she could in the community. They moved to Yount, MO in 1912 but the whole family except Mr. Killian regretted the move. Mrs. Killian passed away 17 Dec 1913. Mr Killian continued to work in the blacksmith trade. He shod his last horse when he was 80 years old. He passed away 3 Mar 1944, at the age of 85 years. Several years after his first wife's death, he remarried to Annie Graham. She died 22 Jul 1931.
