    Surnames: KAPLE, KETCHUM, FLINT
    Classification: Biography
"Luther F. Kaple was the second child of Orlando and Polly Flint Kaple; he was born in Otsego County, New York, about 1810; it was here that he met and married Abigail Ketchum in 1832. She was born about 1813 in Dutchess County, New York and became the mother of eighteen children. Luther passed away in 1873 and Abigail in 1902. When they first came to Allegany County they came to their parents in Alfred; as census records tell they also lived in Chenango County, Broome County and settled in Allegany. Besides Alfred as a home they also lived in Andover and finally homesteaded in Almond. Luther was a hard working carpenter and farmer. Both of them along with some of their children are buried in the Almond Rural Cemetery.
The following is a list of their known ten children; all could not be found in census or records, so the ten available are listed here. William and Palina were born in the town of Almond; Jerusha was born in Chenango County; Broome County was where Harriet made her appearance; the following were all born in Allegany County, New York, Lewis, Alonzo, Herota, Cruger, Esther and Merlin These children scattered their homes throughout Almond, Alfred and Andover.
