Note: Harry Jewell Dead It pains us to say " Harry Jewell is dead" He was such a bright , lovable boy. Why he should be taken, we can't now understand, but we will sme glad day He was about 14 years old and oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Jewell. All learned to know and love Harry. His mother died about four years ago. His father was a conductor on the railroad here then. At Rev. Dew's meeting here, thought young, Harry professed religion and joined the Baptist Church About three years ago, he went to Marseilles, MO., to live with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Jewell, who loved him as their own child. On Jan. 1st he had a slight operation, as was thought but he never rallied from it and died on the 5th of Jan. His body was brought here for burial. His was held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Gordon, sunday at 1 pm., conducted by Rev. W.R. Bradshaw, after which he was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery by his mother. The floral tribute was large and beautiful and much of it came from friends in Marseilles, MO. His uncle and aunt came with him. His father and step-mother and a brother and two sisters, of Monroe, and several other relatives from Roanoke, VA. were here. All loved Harry. It was a beautiful burying, and all believe his will be a glorious resurrection.
