    Distinguished himself in Clinton expedition to the Hudson Highlands, 3-22 October 1777; deputy adjutant general iin Lord Rawdon's Volunteers of Ireland, 1779; took part in the Charleston, S.C. expedition of Clinton in 1778, and in subsequent operations of Cornwallis, 1780-1781.
