    Gloria,
It's good to hear from you again and hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

Christine Thacker is the Grimes expert for the world I think, so I send her stuff when I find it and she has a large following who depend on her for news.

Concerning the Grimes / Graham name in Orange Co NC, I did a lot of research in Caswell Co and some in its parent Orange Co, and I was TOLD by others that most if not all of the G/G names in Orange were from Pennsylvania, so I'm pretty sure some or most of them are from there, though I still think some of them might be part of my group, who were from Fairfax Co VA and mostly ended up in Caswell Co.,

As to the Graham / Grimes affiliation, it's a case of mistaken identification by the county clerks, census takers and other government officials because the old Scots pronounced Grimes like Graham and Graham like Grimes. That continued to be a problem in some areas .... less so in VA where the clerks etc tended to be better educated, and more in NC and SC where they weren't, until, depending on the area, into the 1830s or later. I have seen, occasionally, deeds in which a name was spelled Graham in the deed body and the "signature" was spelled Grimes.
