John sasined as heir to his father in his portion of Murdiestoun on 20 June 1650 and 17 Jul y 1650 in Perth: John Dog 17 July 1650.
“Be it kend to all me by these letters made by John Dog son and air of John Dog portioner o f Murdochstoun with advice and consent of David Muschet of Calyechate David Dog of Balingre w and Margaret Grahame relict of the said umquhil John Dog my father burden taking on them fo r me”.
The next half is more complicated, and does not matter as the first part gives the relationsh ips. But there was a contract made on 6th April 5th May 1637 between John Graham of Meiklewo od and John Dog father to the writer of these presents on the one part, and the late Edward C halmers portioner of Chalmerstone on the other part, whereby the latter sold half the lands o f Chalmerstone under reversion to John Dog, and now (?) the son John Dog as the father has di ed, is taking sasine of these lands in 1650. Sasine dated 10 Jan 1651 to John Dog of Murdiestown, appeared John Mitchell in Chalmerstown a s attorney for John Dog, son and heir of the deceased John Dog of Murdiestown, having in hi s hand a precept made by Edward Chalmers, Portioner of Chalmerstown, to John Dog, son of dece ased John Dog of Murdiestown, of all and whole an AR on the lands of Chalmerstown, which AR t he said deceased John Dog and the deceased John Graham of Micklewood are equally infeft i n p of Chalmerston as heir of his father under a renunciation(?), the original bond dated 163 7 neuntan(?) to Land(?) helen Maxwell in Stirling.
And dated(?) 1651 - Sasine to John Graham of Micklewood as son and heir to John Graham of Mic klewood his father of the above lands on the bond catalogue(?) and mention a rearteen(?) to L eo Maxwell much of family(?) Helen Maxwell his daughter dated 1613 to the deceased John Graha m and deceased John Dog.
He retoured as heir to his father "in ane merk land of Cessintullie alias Murdochestoun" o n 5 Nov 1658. John was a witness to christenings in 1669, 1672, 1673, and 1685. He is liste d in the 1694 Hearth Tax as "portioner of Murdochstoun & his sub tenants, 6 [shillings]." Jo hn and Elizabeth recorded a deed 9 June 1696 which mentions Marion Dog.
His son, Walter, recorded a sasine for his portion of Murdieston on 29 Sept 1697 in Perth.
