William was a Quaker who immigrated from Lancashire, England. He resided at "Goodwill," whic h was originally purchased by his father-in-law, Guy Finch. Goodwill was divided between Guy' s two daughters, Mary Beavans and Elizabeth Elder. It was located north of and adjoined the h ome plantation of Arnold Livers, known at "Timberly." This area is located south of Upper Mar lboro, on Route 301 at Rosaryville State Park.
