    John was reported to be the son of James Springer, the son of Baron Charles Christopher Sprin ger [Reported by M. C. Springer of Lincolncentre, KS in 1880]. This may be false, part of th e "Springer Hoax" to bilk descendants out of money as possible hiers to land in Wilmington, D E, Long Island, NY, and a royal fortune back in Stockholm, Sweden. Note for Dec 2007 - DNA co nfirms John was NOT descended from the above Charles Springer line.

    Note: Only Ezekiel and Dennis are mentioned as sons of John. Jonathan and Aaron, and probabl y others, are presumed children of John based on age and location. Initial DNA results confir m Ezekiel, Aaron, and probably Dennis have a common ancestor.

    John moved to SC where he lived and died near Union Courthouse. John Springer purchased lan d in Union Co.: "Old 96 District, South Carolina, Land Records, Part 2, Index to 1784-5."

    The Smyrna Church was organized in 1786 by the Rev. John Newton and the Rev. John Simpson, Pr esbyterian ministers under the jurisdiction of the South Carolina Presbytery. Services were a t first held in the homes of the members. The first Smyrna church edifice, built on this sit e in 1793, was of logs, with a steeple. The first regular pastor was the Rev. John Springer , who preached there until 1801. John was the pastor of Smyrna, Providence and Washington (GA ) churches.

    Caspar Springer petitioned for a bounty of 100 acres of land (according to the act of 25 Jul y 1761) on 17 Oct 1766, the land in the Province of South Carolina. He appears in the 1778/ 9 Jury List of Beaufort District, SC.
