John acquired the Mill of Cessintully by assignation of his father on 11 Feb 1634. Thereafte r the tenants of the local farms did not cooperate in using the mill, a monopoly, and makin g proper payments. In 1637 John Dog brought suit against the local farmers to exclusively us e his mill and pay the required portion. Included as defendants in his suit were John Dog, po rtioner of Murdieston, and David Dog of Ballingrew. In 1642 James Dog of Gartincaber claime d Cessintully.
