    HICKORY VALLEY CEMETERY

Hickory Valley Cemetery is the cemetery of Hickory Valley Methodist Church. It can be found on Hwy
167 N about two miles from Cave City. The church building, with a sign in front identifying it sits on
the left side of the road; the cemetery is across the street. Its entrance is a gap in the fence, closed off
by a heavy wire with white rags tied to it. The wire is easily unhooked, allowing access to the cemetery.
This is a small cemetery, but there are several graves marked only with field stones or stones so
weathered they can no longer be read.

    From Jayme Anderson at www.andersonconnection.org:

"On Feb 25 1878, Martha Jackson, daughter of William Jackson, sold 136 acres of land for $140. This was land she inherited from her father. We feel that she sold this land to help raise money to get her husband James Staggs out of prison." Copy of Bill of Sale contributed by Gayla Hohn.
