Name: Hugo KLINGVALL
Birth: in Sweden
In those days it was a long journey between Visby and Uppsala, where Hugo attended the University. When leaving home, he brought with him besides his clothing, food to last him the whole semester, butter, ham, salt, pork, corned beef, hard tack, etc and also candles, linen's for the bed, twoels, etc. Hugo died at an early age. He was visiting his home in Visby, Sweden when a fire broke out in town and all able-bodied men joined forced to fight the fire since there was no organized fire department in Visby at that time. He was soaking wet and caught a cold which turned to pneumonia and died shortly after the fire. There was a story surrounding this episode, how correct, is anybody's guess! The story goes like this: On the way to the fire, he was prevented from crossing a certain street by an unnatural force. He took another route, but again he could only proceed so far. At long last he reached the scene of the fire.
Hugo was engaged to a girl the whole family loved. It is unknown if she was an orphan or not, but it seems that after Hugo died, she spent much of her time in his parents home. With 11 girls already in attendance, one more didn't seem to make a difference! She eventually married and her ceremony was in Hugo's parents home. She was loved just like a daughter/sister by the Klingvall family.
