The cemetery was recorded in 1977 by a couple wishing to remain anonymous, and members of the Cooper County Historical Cemeteries Association. It is updated through December 1984. Additions to and some corrections on Clayton Cemetery supplied by Mrs. Arch L. Chrisman, secretary treasurer, obtained from old record books. There are no markers to be found for those records. Additions from later lists come from obituaries, county histories and others sources.
On 20 Jun 1961, the cemetery was also canvassed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints of Jefferson city. The members of recorded this cemetery were Mrs. Katharine Larson and Mrs. Fannie Edgell. Additions from this source if different from the primary source are given in blue.
