Death: Roxbury, MA Vital Records to 1850. Essex Institute, Salem, MA, 1926

Several genealogies named Thomas Bacon's wife as Mary Gamlin, daughter of Robert Gamlin, Jr. Published Roxbury Vital Records indicate a Thomas Baker married Mary/Marie Gamblin in May 1663 as his second wife. Both Thomas Baker and Thomas Bakon had sons named Thomas born in 1663/64. Although several sources indicate these were the same man, careful review of the vital records appears to disprove a connection between them. Thomas Baker died 28 January 1683 at the age of 76 years. Thomas Bacon died 25 October 1702. Taken in total, the records indicate both a Thomas Baken/Bacon and a Thomas Baker lived in Roxbury at the same time, and both had a wife named Mary. No marriage record was found for Thomas Baken/Bacon, either in Roxbury or in Hingham.

Robert Gamlin, Jr.'s probate record, Suffolk Co., Probate Records 1664, 1:419 and 4:179 named a married daughter, but her name was not Mary Bacon or Mary Baker.

Proof of Thomas' parentage "is found in Suffolk Deeds, vol. xx., page 621, in a release dated Aug. 24, 1683, given to 'his brother Peter Bacon of Hingham' of all interest in the estate of his father, George Bacon, 'late of Hingham, dec'd.' That the wife of George was named Margaret is indicated by the deed of March 28, 1672, from Samuel Bacon of Hingham, house carpenter, to 'brother Peter Bacon of the same town,' in which he mentions his 'Mother Margaret Gold, now living in the same town.' " Boston Transcript May 4, 1914, No. 4062

According to "Genealogies of Woodstock Families" part of Clarence Winthrop Bowen's History of Woodstock, CT., Thomas Bacon went to Roxbury in 1665.
