The reason I ask is that Mary may have had the maiden name Tate and possibly is a sister of my ancestor Samuel Tate since Samuel and son Robert served in a militia unit under Martin Armstrong in Surry County NC.

| The Tates in GA during the period indicated don't seem to be related to those who moved to western NC and the part that became TN, as did Martin Armstrong and wife Mary Tate. Aside from your finding that there was a widow of James Tate named Mary in GA, is there any other evidence that this is the same Mary? Also where did the information about daughter Jane Tate come from?
