Johann Michael Mitzel was born 22 April 1734 in Zuzenhausen, Wuerttemberg, Germany, a child of Jacob Meutzel and Maria Barbara. On 4 Feb 1766 in Zuzenhausen, Heidelberg, Baden he married Anna Christina Kirsch. Their sons Johannes, Jacob and Christian were born in Germany. They arrived in Philadelphia on 19 November 1771 on the Ship Tiger. Mary Magdalena, Anna Maria, Michael and Peter were born in Pennsylvania. Their mother was Susanna, maiden name unknown.
