    Proof that her maiden name was Vaughn comes from the death certificate of her oldest son, Jos eph A. Colville., also the article about her father in the Hill County "vanity book".
    Her obituary was in the Hillsboro Mirror on July 6, 1927, p. 1 of Section 2.

    FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY
    Native of Illinois, Coming to Texas in 1875 - Been Member Methodist Church For 70 Years
    Mrs. Matilda Caroline Colville, 90 years old, died at the family residence five miles sout hwest of Hillsboro at 1:45 o'clock Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held at the Vau ghan Methodist church at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. Vinsant of Abbott . Interment will be in Bell cemetery, Marshall & Marshall in charge of arrangements.
    Deceased was born in Illinois on November 18, 1836, coming to Texas in 1875 from Arkansas . She had been a member of the Methodist church for seventy years and at her death held memb ership in the Vaughan Methodist church. She was married to M.D. Colville at the age of 18.
    The following children survive: Joseph A. Colville, of Jacksonville; James A. Colville, Mr s. Clementine Anderson, S.F. Colville, Mrs. Mattie Harris, Mrs. Mollie Smoot, and Mrs. Dell a McClure of Hillsboro; P.D. Colville of Pecos, Mrs. Bettie Perry of Ada, Okla; Alex Colvill e of Wichita Falls, and Mrs. Callie Jordon of McClain."
