Name: Nathaniel Burrill
Birth: 17 MAY 1761 in Abbington, , MA 1
Change Date: 25 JAN 2008
After a residence in Georgetown and service in the Revolution, he came to Canaan, ME before 1790,. He had a tannery on the River Road. Eben Weston paid an interesting tribute to Nathaniel and his wife:
"Mr Burrill was a man of fine manners with a kind of easy formality that entitled him to the appellation of a gentleman of the old school. And in the judgment of a boy from twelve to fifteen years olld, which was my age when I knew them, Mrs. Burrill was as near being a perfect lady as any woman I ever saw. With a pleasant voice and graceful manner, she knew how to say the right thing in the right way at the right time."- p186/7.
