CASTLEWOOD, Va. - Charlie Hubert McGlothlin, 85, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008. Born on July 12, 1923, in Russell County, Va., he was the son of the late Ross and Ora Harris McGlothlin. A coal miner and farmer, he was a lifetime resident of Russell County and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, his first wife, Edith Wilson McGlothlin; and several brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife, Nora Hartsock Salyers McGlothlin; son, Danny McGlothlin and wife Laura of Lebanon; daughters, Connie Selfe and husband Carl of Castlewood and Brenda Alley and husband Tim of Lebanon; stepson, Steve Salyers and wife Kim of Castlewood; grandchildren, George Cook, Charlie Selfe and Ashley Selfe; great- grandchildren, Oliva Cook, Riley Selfe and Braylee Hall; step-granddaughters, Jamie and Chassidy Salyers; and sisters, Helen Whitmore of Bristol and Mabel Combs of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, Va., and brother, Bill McGlothlin of the Finney section of Honaker. Pallbearers will be Charles Clifton, Elwood Hall, Gene Miller, Roger Phillips and Doug Hartsock. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, at Owens Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Bill Crawford officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday before the funeral service. Owens Funeral Service, Lebanon, is in charge of arrangements.
