TAZEWELL, Va. ? Mrs. Geraldine Hatfield, age 68, of the Thompson Valley section, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, in a Bristol Tennessee hospital. Born Dec. 2, 1938, in Buchanan County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Elva Street Coxton. She had resided in the Thompson Valley area since 1980, moving from Drill, Va. She was a Christian and was of the Holiness faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Shevy and Della Hatfield, one brother, Hershel Clayton Coxton, and one grandson, William Anthony "Tiny" Asbury. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Dave Hatfield of the home; four daughters, Linda Coxton Smith and husband Jim and Angel Brown Short and husband Mark, all of Richlands, Sherry Taylor Gregory and husband Clyde of Thompson Valley and Lisa Hatfield Brown and husband Brian of Tazewell; one son, Jody Blankenship and wife Martha of North Tazewell; three sisters, Velva Taylor of Thompson Valley and Judy Jenkins and Linda Cook, both of Charlottesville; eight brothers, Sonny Coxton, Bobby Coxton, Burkey Coxton, Bill Coxton, Joe Coxton and John L. Coxton, all of Thompson Valley, Ricky Coxton of Dry Fork and Scotty Coxton of Honaker; nine grandchildren, Markel Blankenship, Jessica Brown, Michael Smith, Harley Smith, Samantha Blankenship, Alisha Short, Ginger Short, Whitney Brown and Brian "Bubba" Brown; one expected great-grandson, Logan Dale Hurt; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with the Rev. Jess Whited officiating. Interment will follow in the Coxton Cemetery at Thompson Valley, Va. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
