Donald George Cushing was a "Rhodes" scholar having attended Cecil Rhodes School in Winnipeg. He served as a Chief Radio Operator in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He joined the family business as a salesman, and eventually became the President of Cushing Mills Limited and A.B.Cushing Mills in Calgary, and R.L.Cushing Millwork in Moose Jaw. He married twice: once to Maria Hlady in Fort Macleod, Alberta and secondly to Patricia Lundell on a Lyle Bell's 54 foot yacht, "The Four Bells", in English Bay, Vancouver, British Columbia. Donald plays an active role in the Rotary Club, Glencoe Club, Earl Grey Golf and Country Club, and the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. He resides in Calgary, Alberta.
