The 1891 Alberta Census lists Alice Maud Cushing as 11 years old, born in Ontario and living in Calgary. In 1934, after her father died, she changed her residence to Victoria and then Cobble Hill, British Columbia.

Maud L. Cushing is listed in 1901 Alberta Census as 27 years of age and living in Calgary North. She is buried in Union Cemetery in Calgary next to her father.

A POPULAR WEDDING
Last night, a wedding of more than passing interest to the people of Calgary took place at the residence of the bride's father, Ex-Mayor Cushing, when his second daughter, Miss Alice Maud, was united in the holy bonds to F. F. Higgs, proprietor of the Calgary Furniture Store, one of the most popular young men in the city.
The Rev. Fred Langford, pastor of the Methodist church, tied the knot in the presence of only the immediate relatives of the contracting parties.
Miss Cushing and Mr. Higgs were both for a number of years prominent members of the choir of the Methodist church, and both enjoyed in a singular degree the respect and esteem of a very large circle of friends.
The wedding presents were many and of a handsome nature. Amongst them was a very handsome silver service presented by the Young Liberals club, of which Mr. Higgs is the president.
Mr. And Mrs. Higgs are taking up their residence in a comfortable home in the north end of the town.

HIGGS * On November 7, 1960, at Mount St. Mary's, Alice Maud Higgs, aged 82 years; born in Kenilworth, Ont., the widow of the late Frederick, F. Higgs. She was a daughter of the late Hon. W. H. Cushing of Calgary, Alta., and resided in that city before moving to Albert Head and Victoria, where she has been a resident for the past 49 years. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. J. H. Steede, Vancouver, B.C.; Mrs. R. M. Jones, Port Alberni, B. C.; Miss Mary Higgs, San Francisco, Calif.; Mme. A. Gruenais, Paris, France; one son, Burt C. Higgs, Victoria; and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by another son, Dr. W. D. Higgs in 1949.
Private funeral, 2 p.m. Wed. Nov. 9th from Hayward's Chapel. Flowers gratefully declined.
