  • Note: Son of Rainald de Saint- Valery. Occurs in a charter of Godeschalk bishop of Arras on 11 November 1163 (lock, Chartes des eveques d'Arras, , no. 137). Twice married, his first wife Matilda died around 1151. His second wife was Aanor (Cart. Oseney ii, 1037). His eldest son Rainald predeceased him (in 1181/9), and a younger son Thomas succeeded him at his death in 1191. Father, by Aanor, also of Henry (BL Egerton Ch. 10, dated 1191). Possibly father or brother of Philippa, a nun of Fontevraud to whom he made a gift in 1181 (CDF, ). In 1186 he was one of the signatories to the delimitation of the county of Amiens, acknowledging that he held Saint- Valery as a fief of Philip Augustus of France.(Domesday Descendants, p. 698)
