You are connected to the BASTIAN's also. LOCK< FOGLE and BA STIAN were early settlers of Frederick Co and John Lock an d Andrew Fogle's children were contemporaries that buildt t he Rocky Hill church together.

BEARD is Anglecian for BARTH which started out as BARTHIN.
I do not have John Wilhelm Fogle. Some of the notes below r efer to William Fogle. I would like to add more current gen erations to my data. I didn't send you all of them but man y generations of my records stop with 3rd generation of Fog le's.
Fist of all, the LOCK vs. LOCKE...not sure what the deal i s on that! In every family tree it changes at different tim es. by researching deeds in the family it seems that in m y line it changed about 1880's when my grandfather Willia m Curtis LOCK bought land and they recorded it with an "e " on the end. Many times the handwriting flourishes make i t hard to tell if there is an e or not, but in my family i t clearly changed with Wm. Curtis line at that time, althou gh some of his sibs did not change it. Generally the old Fr ed Co records are without the "e". LOCKE is English; LOCK o r Lach or LOCH is German.
George Lock and Anna Maria Fogle ( or Mary Ann or Maria Ann a Fogle!!) George was the 5th of 7 children of my 4th grgra ndpa, Capt. John LOCK mrd to Salome Bastian. (George is m y 3rd gr. uncle) My 3rd grgrandpa, Philip Lock, was just yo unger than George. All the family migrated to Preble co O H except George and Mary Anna and they stayed on the famil y homestead, Lock View Farm, Coppermine Rd, Woodsboro, Fred . Co. MD. i/2 mile from Rocky Hill church. My 5th cousin, D ahl Drenning, 3rd grgrandson of George and Mary Anna Fogl e Lock still lives on the farm, the 8th generation. It is q uite a house....I have pic somewhere if you want it.

Susanna Catharina Barth, daughter of Johann Jacob and A nna Catharina (Sebastian, BASTIAN, sister to my Salome) Bar th, was born in Freinsheim, Germany 18 Dec. 1732, and bapti zed 21 Dec., the sponsors being Adam Schaffner and wife Ann a Catharina & Susanna, widow of Adam Reipold. She came to P ennsylvania with her parents in 1736 on the ship Harle an d was confirmed at New Hanover, Philadelphia County, Pennsy lvania 29 April 1745. She died after 1802 in Frederick Coun ty, Maryland.
Andreas Vogler and Catharina Barthin were married 25 Oct. 1 753 at Augustus Evangelical Lutheran Church at Trappe, Ne w Providence Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. H e was born 19 July 1727 in Hettenhausen, Germany and died 2 7 July 1786 in Frederick County, Maryland. His burial recor d at St. Peter's Rocky Hill Church states that his parent s were Balthsar Vogler and Anna Trubin and that he marrie d Nov. 1753 the daughter Catharina of Jacob Barth. They ha d six sons and three daughters, of whom two sons and one da ughter died. Andrew Vogel was naturalized with his brothe r in law, Peter Barth, 15 April 1761, in Maryland.

FOGLE, ANDREW (Andreas VOGLER) In the year 1766 Andrew Fogl e sold to William Andess a parcel of land that would be loc ated on the same side of the road as the St Peters Church . Also I found in 1785 where John Lock and his wife baptize d their son John. It is my guess that the Locke View Farm w as purchased between 1766 and 1785 plus or minus a few year s. However, the enclosed deed only covers 23 acres of land , that could be an add on and I don't believe, not knowin g for sure, if it were indeed the whole of the whole. "Chancery Case - Adam Fischer and Elizabeth Fischer, his wi fe, vs. Joseph Fogle, Simon Groseman and Elizabeth Groseman , Robert H. Fogle and others - to obtain decree to sell rea l estate of Christian Fogle, decd, for benefit of his heirs . The bill states that Christian Fogle died intestate and w ithout issue...leaving a brother named Joseph Fogle residin g, it is supposed, in the state of Ohio, a sister named Eli zabeth Groseman, wife of Simon Groseman, both residing in V irginia, the representatives of a dec'd brother, Adam Fogle , and the representatives of a dec'd sister, Margaret Hill , his heirs at law. Children and representatives of Adam Fo gle (who had previously died) were at time of the death o f said intestate, Christian Fogle, Robert H. Fogle, Josep h Fogle Jr., John Fogle, Christian Fogle, M'Keloy Fogle, Re becca Sullins (wife of Joseph Sullins), Sally Fogle (no w a widow bearing the name of her last husband, but which t he complainants have been unable to learn) and Nancy Fogl e with is unmarried. Diana Edmondson (one of the daughter s of Adam Fogle) died in the lifetime of said Christian, le aving children but who are supposed by the bill to have n o interest in said real estate. Children and representative s of Margaret Hill were in being at the time of the death o f said intestate, Christian Fogle, Christian Hill, Ruth Jen kins wife of Daniel Jenkins, and the complainant Elizabet h Fischer, wife of the other complainant, Adam Fischer. Do you know why the difference in the family name spellin g Lock vs Locke? Do you have any additional information o n Andrew Fogle and Susanna Catharine BEARD/BARTH. Is Bear d an Americanization of Barth? Do you have any informatio n on John Wilhelm FOGLE, b. 19 Sep 1829 in Woodsboro, Frede rick County, Maryland? He married Keziah PERRINE of Cincina tti, Ohio. His parents were John Phillip (Twin) FOGLE and A nna Susanna ?.
