My husband's Aunt Florence worked on the Wentzel roots for nearly 20 years. I've extracted the census data in order to confirm her notes, and hopefully this information will benefit others. If any information has been inaccurately compiled, PLEASE let me know. And I will be happy to make any corrections needed. If I posted any individuals who are presently living, PLEASE notify me so that I can remove them in order to protect their privacy. In advance I would like to Thank all family members that assisted me with this project. I live in excess of a 1000 miles from Reading, Pa so there are still many records out there that could be beneficial.
    *******

Arrival: 1748 "Hampshire" Capt. Thomas Cheesman (qualified Sept. 7, 1748) Rotterdam. Lorentz applied his actual signature verses the "x" marked so commonly found back then. Also on this voyage was Johnnes Engel (and later we find that a descendant of Lorentz Wentzel married a descendant of Johannes Engel). The ship log did not reflect the names of spouses or their children.

1748 appeared on the Philadelphia County taxes/census (certainly didn't waste much time)
1753 appears on the taxables for Alsace, Berks Co, Pa

The "will" of Lorentz was probated on April 8, 1782. I believe my husband's Aunt had a copy of this at one time, however when I inherited her files it wasn't included. If anyone has a copy of this "will" I would certainly appreciate a copy.

I find it odd however that his name wasn't carried onto later generations.

According to information posted online their children were:
Anna Elizabeth; Baltzer (Balsar and variations thereof); Johann Wendel; Johann Philip; Daniel; and Samuel.

I would love to find a map online reflecting whence they came. If someone has seen such a web site, will you PLEASE email me the web site data. Also I'm curious if anyone knows if he was a Hessen Soldier?
