Note: from _Chickasaw County History_, Vol 1, MSU library, F271 page 299-300. James Monroe Foster (1845-1907) son of A.E. (1814-1885) and Nan Foster (?-1872) married Martha Louiza Thompson (1848-1933). They moved to Chickasaw County from Fayette, AL in 1889. They purchased land in the Thorn Community. Family records indicate that the Fosters donated land for the present location of the Thorn Methodist Church. James Monroe served as the third postmaster at Thorn, MS, and he served in that position from Nov 1895 through June 1902. James Monroe and Martha Foster had the following children: Orlando Jefferson (1868-1951) married Alice Kennedrick (1872-1946), Ella (1870-1953) married Solomon Issac Anderson (1842-1910), and Alfred Mixon (1885-1965), Mary Myrtle (Molly) (1872-1918) married Bolin C. Lancaster (1856-1934), John A. Foster (1876-1936) married Annie Vaughn, Maggie (1880-1898), Mattie Tierce (1883-1946) married David Clark Kellum, Alice (1885-1953) married Jim Hannaford, and Zada (1888-1898). Ella Foster and Solomon I. Anderson had three children: Erive (1897-1976) married Clifton McGee; Hommie (1899) marred Walton Blissard: and Flora (1908) married B.L. McGee. Ella Foster Anderson and Alfred Mixon had one child, Zada Eunice Mixon. John A. and Annie Vaughn Foster had two children: Annie married Lee Buck Clemons, and Denver Foster (deceased) married Rosie Vance (deceased). John A.'s children were raised by Grandpa and Grandma Foster. Orlando Jefferson and Alice Kennedrick Foster had the following children: Mattie Lee (1898-1918) married Clarence Franks; James William (1901-1901), Alma Elon (1902-1972) married Uhes P. May (1896-1951), Eula May Foster (1907) and Lula Gray Foster (1907-1984) married Will Garner Dixon. Alice Foster and Jim Hannaford had four children: J.T., Maurice, Arnold, Wendell. Mattie Tierce Foster and David Clark (Dave) Kellum had four living children: Jimmie Louise Kellum (1903-1979) m. J.M. Brasher (deceased), Jessie Howard Kellum (1906-1975) m. Ruby Doris Wooldridge, Clara Mae Kellum (1908) m. H.K. (Jack) Morris (1901-1980), and Mary Ruth Kellum (1910) m. Farris Lee Huffman (1907-?) and Tom Brasher (deceased).

Foster was 2yrs old; birth in 1877 instead? James Foster is listed as born in Georgia, but the children list father as born in Tennessee -- from the list quite possible mistake from above.
