Note: Only 5 of Anna's and Christians children lived to adulthood, Ettie, Louisa, Fred, Christian and Theresa.
Note: Annas parents Johann Samuel Kuchel (b) 4 May 1815. and married Johanna Dorothea Klenke in Sept 1839, she had arrived in South Australia in the "Zebra" 1 Jan 1839, her father died at sea. Samuel and Johanne lived for a short time in Klemzig,
then moved on to Hahndorf, where the Hahndorf accademy now stands, which was the first land leased in South Australia. His signiture can be seen in a book at the Hahndorf Gallery. In 1845, they moved out to the farm known as Kirchenbergen.
Note: Etties and Louises children seem to have moved to the city, while the families of Fred, Chris and Teresa remained in Murray Bridge for some time. There was a great love of horses and racing in this family. Chris, who owned and trained several
horses, ncluding Shooting Boy, which won the Great Eastern Steeplechase in 1931. It is said that Shooting Boy was trained for the race in a milk cart. Unfortunately, Fred, Chris's son, lost his life in a fall in a steeplechase.
Note: Chris owned a farming and dairying business on the area now ocupied by the Murray Bridge racecoarse and golf links. In the summer he would put his cows on the swamp five miles up river.
Note: Cause of death was Senile Decay. Undertaker was A.N. Schubert of Murray Bridge, South Australia. Date of registration 25 Feb 1911 and entered 2 march 1911.
