        Text: Donald W. Gingerich

        Donald W. Gingerich, 74, died at 11:45 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2003 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Betty J. (Rohrbaugh) Gingerich to whom he was married 54 years. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Jefferson with his pastor, the Rev. Franklin N. Miller, officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery. Viewings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Mr. Gingerich was born June 2, 1929 in North Codorus Township. He was a son of Sadie E. (Sweitzer) Gingerich of York and the late Fred H. Gingerich. He was employed for 39 years at Glatfelter's in Spring Grove where he was a member of the mills Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Jefferson, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and former member of Jefferson Chapter No. 3699 AARP, and Viking Athletic Association in York. Mr. Gingerich was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and traveler. He was a former member of the Monday Senior Citizen Bowling League at Spring Grove Bowling Center. Besides his wife and mother, he leaves two daughters, Stephanie L. Runkle of York and Pamela A. Hubley of Spring Grove; a son, Charlton 'Chuck' L. Gingerich of Spring Grove; six grandchildren, Erica, Nicole, Derek, Rebecca, Kurt, and Dana; three sisters, Yvonne Riley and Carole Lightner, both of York and Patti Smeltz of Spring Grove; and a brother, Jack B. Gingerich of Spring Grove. A sister, Loretta Heindel died in 1994. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Box 159, Codorus, PA 17311 or to the Alzheimer's and Related Disease Association, 2001 N. Front Street, Bldg. 2, Suite 321, Harrisburg, PA 17102. Published in the York Daily Record, York Dispatch & York Sunday News on 7/13/2003.
