Text: Nobia Louise Tallent, 85, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, June9,2007, at a local hospital.
A native of Macon County, she was a daughter of the late Ed Tallent and Tallie Roper Tallent Stewart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dock Tallent, who died in 1982; a daughter, Helen Arbutis Tallent; and a sister, Sophia Mills Messemer.
She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother, and of the Christian faith.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Brantley and husband Dennis of Charleston, S.C., Nancy Alter and husband Steve and Wanda Elders and husband Gary, all of Franklin; three sons, Carlos Tallent and wife Susie and David Tallent and wife Shelly, all of British Columbia, Canada, and Ronnie Tallent of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Betty Cloninger of Gastonia and Thelma Cubler of Dunellan, Fla.; two brothers, Clifford Tallent and Tracy Tallent, both of Gastonia; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Several loving nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Bryant Funeral Home. Charles Vaughn and Jennifer Grady will officiate.
Burial will be at Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joel Whitworth, Bill Deal, Johnny Hardman, Neil Veloso, Michael Brantley and Doug Brantley.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Angel Home Health and Hospice, 170 Church St., Franklin, NC 28734 or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 505 East Blvd., Suite 101, Charlotte, NC 28203.
