His grave is at Bethel Cemetery as is his mother's, Mariah P. Kennedy and supposedly, George W. Kennedy. Also the T.W. Terry's" Notes also include a letter to James from George W. Kennedy Jr. Granite City, IL, asking about an old mine on the Kennedy property.

!NOTES: From Bev Brickey......James Holseman Kennedy served in Hood's Texas Brigade (the 1st Texas Volunteer Infantry Regiment) during the Civil War...he was in Company G throughout. Interestingly enough, according to the material I received, there was also a George W. Kennedy who showed up in late 1864 (November/December) in that same Company G and who was later paroled at Appomatox in April of 1865. Since our great grandfather would have turned 16 in 1864, could he have followed his older brother into the 1st Texas? James would have been an Ensign by then. I also found a Thomas Seay in Company G who could be the Cousin Tom mentioned in James' letters.
