Kingstone (St. Giles)
KINGSTONE (St. Giles), a parish, in the union of Bridge, hundred of Kinghamford, lathe of St. Augustine, E. division o f Kent, 5¼ miles (S. E. by S.) from Canterbury; containing 310 inhabitants. It is situated on the road from London to D ovor, and comprises by measurement 1540 acres, of which 134 are in wood... The church, which was built prior to the Ref ormation, is principally in the decorated style, and contains several handsome monuments. On the borders of the paris h is a small Roman encampment, called Cæsar's camp, and within it are several tumuli, from which coins and other Roma n relics have been taken.
