JOHN BRICKER was born in South Buffalo township, Armstrong county, June 1 5, 1824, son of John and Isabel (Bole) BRICKER, of that county. His fath er was born in Armstrong county in 1793, was married in 1815, and rear ed a family of ten children, as follows: Elizabeth, who married John TRIMB LE; Martha, who married John HOLMES; Nicholas; James; David; John; Samue l; William; Harvey, and Hiram. Mr. BRICKER died in 1875, and his wife t he following year. They were members of the Presbyterian church. The subje ct of this sketch was reared upon a farm and learned the blacksmith's trad e, which he followed in connection with agriculture. He came to Butler cou nty in the spring of 1855, and settled in Buffalo township in 1857, purcha sing the PUGH farm, consisting of 109 acres, upon which he now resides. Mr .BRICKER was married October 5, 1845, to Agnes Nancy HESSELGESSER,
a daughter of William HESSELGESSER, of Winfield township. Nine children we re born to this union, as follows: Murphy L.; Josephine, wife of John S. F RANTZ; Anna J., wife of James W. MILLER; Perry B.; Alzina; John T.; Willi am L.; Hiram C., and McCURDY. Mr. BRICKER is a member of the Methodist Ep iscopal church, is a Republican in politics, and has filled the offic es of road commissioner, supervisor, overseer of the poor, etc. He is o ne of the well known farmers of Buffalo township.
