John S. Spence, 84, of 2519 Harvey St., a Duluth resident for 80 years, di ed in a Duluth hospital Monday. He had been employed in the sales divisi on of Zinsmaster Baking Co. for 40 years prior to retiring in 1955. He w as a member of Trinity Masonic Lodge and Eagles Aerie No. 79. He was bo rn in Ontario. Survivors are three sons, Marvin, Allyn and Raymond; two da ughters, Mrs. Lester (Lois) Seger and Mrs. Lloyd (Shirley) Frey, all of Du luth; a sister, Mrs. Mary Mowbray, North Brook, Ill.; eight grandchildr en and two great-grandchildren.

John's death certificate indicates his marital status as widowed, spou se 's name Lena Avery Spence (deceased), even though John and Lena were di vorced in October of 1936 - 30 years before John's death.

John is buried in Section F, Block 24, Lot 5, Grave 5.
