From a newspaper clipping Teacher Dies of Heart Attack While on School?s Playground Miss Nellie Porter, teacher at the Rothville elementary school died suddenly last Tuesday afternoon of a heart attack as she was supervising the children on the playground. Funeral services were last Thursday afternoon. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery at Bynumville under the direction of Miller-Tillotson. Nellie Maude Porter, daughter of Lewis and Lennie Porter, was born 19 January 1900, at Bynumville. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lennie Porter, of the home in Marceline; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Brewer, of Bynumville, Missouri and Ardes Kellner of Salisbury Mills, New York; three brothers, Marvin Porter of Tarkio, Missouri; Hubert Porter of Bynumville, Missouri and Orville Porter of Marceline. Miss Porter made her home in Bynumville until about a year ago, when she moved, with her mother, to the home at 724 North Kansas Avenue, Marceline, Missouri. She taught for many years in rural schools in Chariton County after graduating from Salisbury High School and Kirksville State Teachers College. She also taught in high schools at Glenwood, Missouri and Keytesville, Missouri. For the past several years she has been teacher in the Rothville school. Miss Porter was active in the United Brethren Church of Bynumville and in 4-H Club work. She was a member of A.A.U.W.
