Note: John North is shown to have leased 2 different parcels of land from the Rev McCreight. At plot no 7 John leased only land, the area of which is broken down into Acres, Roods, and Perches. The area of land John leased at plot 7 was 5 Acres, 1 Rood, and 13 Perches and the annual value on the land was £4 & 5s. An office in a Griffiths Valuation entry can be any outbuilding, barn, stable, blacksmith, etc. Although John's plot numbers are consecutive, it does not mean they were physically next to each other, nor does it mean John and his son Daniel's plot were next to each other, although they may have been. The area of land at plot no 8 which John leased totals 8 Acres, 1 Rood, and 24 Perches, the value of the land was 15 Shillings and the value of the house and outbuildings was £1 5s. The total valuation of John's properties was £12. John's son Daniel, at plot 9, is shown to have leased a house, offices and land from Rev. McCreight, the are covered was 8 Acres, 3 Roods, and 10 Perches and valued at £7. The house and outbuildings were valued at £1. The North had a few neighbours in Drumalure Beg, including Armstrongs, Morrows, Bells, Joneses, Hewits. No doubt many of these occupiers had wife's and children in their households, though they were not mentioned in Griffiths Valuation entries. The Rev. Andrew McCreight was an absentee landlord as he did reside in Drumalure Beg. The map referred to in Griffiths valuation are Ordnance Survey (OS) maps much like the once produced in England in the 19th century. For Drumalure Beg the OS map is Ord. S. 15. These OS Maps were compiled around the time Griffiths Valuation was first enumerated in 1847. The plot numbers found in Griffiths Valuation entries correspond with numbers on the OS maps for each particular Townland, mean you can you can actually see the exact location of John and Daniel's land.
