    Lois lived for fifty-eight years. She became the mother of nine children, all but three of whom died before they married. Lois, having buried six daughters had an especially heavy burden. The only child to remain in Swanzey was her son, George. Lois's pioneer Grimes' heritage stood her in good stead, as her life was certainly not an easy one.
