Civil War Service Record includes the following information: Age 40 years; Height 5 ft 7 1/2 in.; complexion light; hair brown; Eyes blue; Birthplace listed. Occupation given as laborer. Died at Camp Sigel in Regimental Hospital, Winchester, VA. From BRIDGEWATER AND THE CIVIL WAR - In July 1862 the town held a meeting to see about raising volunteers. Rufus must have signed up as a result of this meeting.

In the individual expenses for the Overseer of the Poor, he indicates expenses for personal services June 6, 1860 1-2 days to Tuckers, June 11 making complaint against Tucker.
