      Note: Her background is unknown as no maiden name is available. She came to the US from Sweden sometime between 1892 and 1898 according to conflicting census reports which would have her between the ages of 17 and 23. Comparing miscellaneous dates, it would appear she must have met and married Clayton very soon after arriving here, although whether in VT or MO isn't known. A search of the Vermont archives may reveal a marriage place and date.
