    Born in Union County Kentucky in 1848, moved to Granby Missouri sometime after 1866. He was a miner in Granby. He ran for Postmaster but was defeated by John F. Goodykoontz.

    John Goodykoontz was later murdered by the notorious George Hudson. Joseph applied for and withdrew his application for a Whiskey Licenses. He testified against George Hudson at Georges Murder trial in Rolla Missouri. George was acquited and then beat up Joseph in a Saloon in Neosho. Joseph asked permission to bring his hand gun to town but was denied his request.

    He Married Sarah Yandell who is buried in Liberty Missouri. He later moved to Oklahoma, then to Marshall Texas and lived with his sister Katherine Strohe, then moved to Ft Smith Arkansas to live with his son Van B, Sittler. Joseph Died March 31 1929 in Ft Smith Arkansas and is buried in an Unmarked but documented grave.
