    Notes for Vinna Talitha Krick:
Old newspaper article says: "Mrs. Sam Saddoris moved her car a few inches to retrieve a penny that had fallen under it. Her action caused $102 worth of damage to Boone, Iowa's, streets when the car hit a parking meter, bounced off a building, lurched half a block down the sidewalk." Now whoever said a penny saved is a penny earned? This was not our Mrs. Saddoris. Called Nam by her grandchildren. Nam was born in a soddy and loved to ride horses Loved to travel. Went all over the country on the train. It was a benefit of her job. I got to travel with her on severral occasions and I just loved it. The dining car and the observation deck cars were my favorite. I will never forget the jingle of the train as it moved. Also all the porters were black at the time. Discrimination was the course of the times. I remember my grandmother telling me that we must be nice to the Negroes (as the race was called in her times) She said they were people with feelings too and deserved our respect. It was not right to call them names or mistreat them even if other people did. It was a lesson learned early in life. --Deb Davis (granddaughter)
Nam raised Pekingnese dogs and she sent me a dog when we were living in Santa Maria. I have had several since and will always be fond of them.
