"Schremling, George, b. ca. 7/?/1761, Canajoharie, N.Y.; (nephew: David Scrambling, resident of Washtenaw Co., Michigan in 1837); George moved from Otsego, Otsego Co., N.Y. in 1833 to Pitt Twp., Washtenaw Co., Mich. where he applied for pension on 2/3/1837. George enlisted in 1778/1779 for nine months as a private in Capt. Gross' Co., Col. Ganservoort's N.Y. Regt.; he again enlisted in the same regiment and company for another nine months and was stationed at Fort Plain and along the frontiers of the Mohawk River in Tryon Co.; he also served tours of duty in Capt. Saben's Co., Col. Wayne's Regt. and in Capt. Mabie's Co., Col. Veeder's N.Y. Regt.; George fought in the battle of Johnstown, marched on an expedition against Oswego Fort under Col. Willett and was in an engagement at Turlock (now Sharon); he served until the close of the war under Col. Willett. (RWPA: #R9323 SCRAMBLING)"
