Note: - http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=swilliams10&id=I84451 of Sep06 has excellent information on Hollister family&a little on David White;
Note: !census US 1850 Wayne Twp, Erie Co PA family 188/189: David White Jr White Jr 44 NY, Lucy 36 NY Marvin 9 PA Lydia 6 PA Marilla 2 PA , Martin 11 PA, Melvin 4 PA, David 80 NY presumed grandpa; (apparently the same David Evan White of Windham, Greene Co NY 1810 US census ) (as there is a son 0-5 years old, and nearby what looks like a John Warner,) (although not indexed as such. There is indexed in Windham NY a Martin Warner); -------------------------------------------------------------------- THE DISCREPANCY OF DAVID WHITE VERSUS DANIEL WHITE SEEMS TO ARISE THROUGH SEEING THE WORD "DANIEL" WRITTEN ON US CENSUS, WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE "DAVID" (BECAUSE THE E AND L HANDWRITING COMBINED SEEMS LIKE A LETTER D TO US TODAY) HOWEVER WHEN WE SEE AN ACTUAL HANDWRITTEN "DAVID" IT ISN'T LIKE "DANIEL" BECAUSE THE D IN THIS 1850 CENSUS HAS A CIRCLE WITH A CURLYCUE ON TOP OF THE CIRCLE, NOT BESIDE IT AS IN MODERN DAY HANDWRITING;
Note: HANKS source: Virginia C. Hanks said said that most of her data on the HANKS line, Virginia's husband's line, were sent ca 1997 (reportedly is okay 2006) by Barbara J. McQueen 6033 Grosvenor Lane, Bethesda MD 20814-1851 ; ------------------------------------------------------------------------- GOOD: W.Forsythe posted the Childers sisters' compilation because those results were the most difficult ancestral linkages I've ever personally experienced someone discovering by perseverance. Most of their ancestors in the colonial south were so dirt poor that they never owned land; so the family linkages were discovered e.g. by stock brand records etc. of what ear notches meant the horse was owned by which poor farmer. I (Forsythe) wrote a colonial article in National Genealogical Society Quarterly 84 (1996): 182-199, but some of the Childers sisters' research is way beyond the family difficulties I ever faced; ------------------------------------------------------------- If y'all want to ask more details about this compilation: The best way is to write to the postal mail addresses below,as long as they are able to correspond (after all, they did the research!) but you are welcome to email the " computerizer" of this database, Mr. Forsythe--and he'll try to convey your message to Mrs. Kunz or Mrs. Hanks.; ------------------------------------------- oct 2006 for now Forsythe just copies the general list of documentation sources listed in the Childers sisters' family publications (below) COMPILED BY VIRGINIA C.
