I have been researching from the line of Demus' second marriage to Katherine
Margaret Scheffel and their daughter Virginia and her descendants.

I'm curious about where the widower Demus and his children were in 1910 after
the death of his first wife Ruth in 1907. Her death left Demus with some very
young children. Demus married Katherine in 1914 and I have their census of 1920
and 1930 (Demus is listed as "Richard" in Warsaw, Hancock, IL). The two
youngest children of the first marriage would be about 14 and 15 in 1920, but
they are not living with their father and his second wife. The other children
are old enough in 1920 to be on their own. I have found Helen in subsequent
censuses and she appears to have been adopted by a widow, anna Prueallaer b.
