  • Name: Joel E. Perry
  • Sex: M
  • Birth: 29 OCT 1846 in Wales, St. Clair County, MI
  • Death: 16 MAY 1927 in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo, MI
  • Burial: 18 MAY 1927 Riverside cemetery, Kalamazoo, MI
  • Note:
Joel Perry was probably the most successful of William Perry's children. He became a land speculator and there are many, many deed entries all through the deed books of Mecosta County for Joel. From the "Portrait and Biographical Album of Mecosta County, Chapman Brothers 1883" page 496 mentions Joel Perry in a biographical sketch of his business partner Charles H. Crane.

Place of birth as well as day and date comes from obit.

The two youngest children are still in the house.

1920: Flint ED 54, Genesee County, Michigan page 1B Ancestry Image Flint ED 54 image 2
Dewey is still living at home and single.

1930: Kalamazoo ED 30, Kalamazoo County, Michigan Sheet 7B Ancestry image 14
Mary Perry is listed as a widow living in the household of her son in law, Jacob VanDonselaar and her daughter Ethel.

Joel Perry must die between the 1910 and 1920 census. I have already checked Genesee County death register with negative results so it leaves me to believe that Joel must die in Kalamazoo County.

    Death Record:
Kalamazoo County Death Record Book 1927, record # 305. Record mentions father Wm Perry born England, Ann Fox born NY.

Obituary from "The Evart Review" Friday May 27, 1927

With the exception of a few years spent in Mississippi, Mr. Perry had always made his home in the State of Michigan, and for many years lived on a farm near Evart.
December 22, 1875 he was married to Miss Mary Canaan, of Grant township, Mecosta County, and to them were born six children, all of whom are now living.
