    Following is from a copy of settlement papers of Co. K, 120 Reg't Illinois Infantry:
    "I certify on honor, that William P Osborn a Private of Captain S. G. Parks Company K of the 120 Regiment of Inf volunteers, of the State of Illinois, born in Caldwell Co, State of Kentucky, aged 23 years; 5 feet 7 inches high; dark complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, and by occupation a farmer having joined the company on its original organization at Vienna Ill 14th Aug 1862 and enrolled in it at the muster into the service of the United States at Camp Butler, Ill, on the 29th day of October, 1862, for the term of 3 years unless sooner discharged, and having served honestly and faithfully with his Company in the 120 Reg Ill Vols to December 15th 1862 at which time he died at the St Louis, Mo of disease. Etc..."

    ---Notes from Louise Earnhardt Osborne states that the information on the children came from the bible of Jesse Osborne.
    ---Letter dated 30 July 1964 from Headquarters, Dept. of he Army, Office of Support Services, Washington, DC to Mrs. W. R. Osborne, Jr. of Paducah, KY.
    Dear Mrs. Osborne
    Reference is made to your letter of recent date, wherein you requested information regarding the burial place of William P. Osborne, a Civil War veteran.
    The records of this office show one William P. Osborne who served as a Private with Company K, 120th Regiment, Illinois Infantry. This decedent died 15 Dec. 1862 and his remains are interred in Grave 3515, Sec. 35, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 101 Memorial Dr., St. Louis, MO. He was originally buried in the Wesleyan Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
