"WILLIAM ROSWELL OSBORNE, JR., was born in Paducah July 21, 1911, son of William Roswell and Lula (Jackson) Osborne.
He was educated in the Paducah public school System, attending Washington Junior High, Arcadia and Augusta Tilghman High Schools. He became known as "Bill".
The Osborne family moved from Paducah into McCracken county in 1925, and as a youth he worked on his father's farm and various jobs around town. In 1932 Bill served as Youth Swim Instructor at the YMCA. In 1933, The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was inaugurated and Bill enlisted and served one term in California with the Forest Service and U.S.Army. October 1, 1934 he was employed by the Railway Express Agency, serving longest in the capacity of Cashier for 25 years. After 40 years of service with REA, he retired July 1, 1974.
Bill was married April 18, 1935 to his teenage sweetheart, Louise Earnhardt at their residence at 211 South Friendship Road, Lone Oak, where they lived all their entire married lives, observing their Golden Wedding Anniversary, April 1985.
Louise was born in McCracken County June 17, 1912. The daughter of James Jackson and Rosetta (Balance) Earnhardt. Bill and Louise were members of the Lone Oak First Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Bill was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Paducah, and a charter member of the Lone Oak Lions Club, Master Mason of Paducah Lodge 127, and the Scottish Rite and Shrine of Madisonville, KY.
